Sharq Village & Spa, Doha…

Qatar’s capital Doha caters for only one form of travel and that is Luxury. Travelling via the new A350 aircraft, the service offered to Business Class is indeed exemplary. As if the extensive pampering on board flight was not enough, the service continued to impress upon landing with rapid exit via a private passport control in the VIP Lounge at Hamad Airport where we waited for our luggage to be delivered for a private transfer to the Sharq Village & Spa, an impressive Ritz Carlton property.

The journey to the hotel was inspiring. The architecture of buildings were prominent and bright in the evening sky, resembling a refined scene to the typical Dubai skyline. An exuberant mood filled the air with colourful lights everywhere you looked.

The Sharq Village & Spa is somewhat conservative on first impression in retrospect. The resort comprises of 174 guest rooms and situated along a pristine private beach approximately 1,000 feet. Architecture is predominantly Arabic with bold arched ceilings and traditional wooden carvings. The Resort houses a good range of boutiques with goods ranging from high fashion items to high-end jewellery, all uniquely blended in the design of an outdoor market. The spacious lobby boasts ‘grandeur’ and opulence with large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling with traditional Arabic design to add to the richness.


The Royal Villa

The modern contemporary theme extends to the Villa where technology is carefully integrated in the fabric of traditional Arabic design, giving the visitor access to all the technology one would expect in a 5 Star hotel whilst maintaining a dominant a classic Arabic ambience. Measured at approximately 21,500 sqf, guest will not be short of space. The Villa which can comfortably accommodate up to 10 consists of two levels with beautiful Ocean views, a private indoor swimming pool, Living room, Kitchen & dining area, four suites and bathrooms including an oversized deep soaking Jacuzzi with blue mosaic veined with 18K Gold. Key room features include custom-made furnishings and traditional Arabic décor, large outdoor balcony with panoramic sea views and large walk-in closets for comfort and convenience. The Villa also comes with its own private steam room and a driveway with waterfalls in the outdoor sitting areas and a separate recreational annex for your personal use.

The 6,500 sqft Spa is the largest in the region and consists of 23 treatment rooms offering an incredible list of treatment options ranging from traditional Arabian treatments to Swedish therapies, as well as a state of the art fitness room, changing, relaxation and prayer rooms and private sitting areas. There is a separate entrance for men and women as well as separate training regimes and  Guests are required to follow and observe the traditions and culture of the region.

Nine restaurants serve the Resort with a range of international cuisine to cater for all guests. Located in the Souq Waqif, the Parisa is an exquisite restaurant specialising in the finest of Persian seafood and traditionally prepared with a modern tone, although alcohol is not served in keeping with the local traditions. Al Jalsa is found away from the lobby area in a more serene location where guests can enjoy a wide range of their favourite brews. Al Liwan is an all-day restaurant serving a wide range of Arabic mezze, salads and grilled seafood/meats and deserts. Other restaurants include Al Wanis Shisha Terrace, Al Seef Snack Bar, Al Dana, C Lounge and a Cigar Lounge where you can enjoy delicious light snack and a glass of champagne.

Activities range from driving on the sand dunes to simply relaxing at the Hotel’s private beach or spa. The Concierge will be more than happy to arrange for an itinerary including visits to Museums or the City.
